#2# University of Student's Perspective: Tenzin Lhamu

A university (Latin: universitas, "a whole", "a corporation") an institution of higher education and research which grants academic degrees in various academic disciplines.

The word university itself means corporation. I, being an undergraduate student think that today’s education system has been corrupted. Honestly when finished my 12th boards I was really very excited for my graduation. But what I see in the university is student running to the classes only for the attendance. Teachers and professors are considered as a machine. They are expected to work like a robot. Students are judged by the marks or grades they obtain. No matter how big or small thing you put your effort in there is no appreciation at all. Also, I personally think there should be no division of teachers, no head of department and no assistant professor. It creates a fragmentation in the department itself. It must be more like a unity, where all the students and professors work and learn together. In this way it would be a fun learning process. A student must never be judged by his or her grades as the area of intelligence is limited in exams.

My ideal university would contain of perfect amount of students and teachers. Though universities consists of plenty of schools and departments, there must me some activities which would let the students know the other field of studies as well  and make the students and teachers both get into some activities which would be of a great team work. In this way no one would ever feel alienated or pressurised. I think just by interacting and sharing the knowledge, we get to know a lot about different cultures and beliefs. It would automatically solve the problem of racial or much other discrimination which students often face in the university and around.

Students and teachers both would be given freedom to speak out their mind.
I deeply believe that the real life begins when we start our college life. Here we perceive a lot of new good things and bad as well. That is why a university must be an environment full of friendliness, charms, laughs, and positive vibes and of course an environment with a sound knowledge. By setting time table only students go under pressures and pressure. The time to deliver a lecture and to attend a class must completely depend on the students and the professor. Until and unless there is no will power nothing can ever progress. Everything arises through our own will power.

But I am blessed to have such good professors in my graduation. Who are seriously so emancipated and appreciates every time we do something, be it funny or great. There are always positive and negative sides of everything. My level of thinking on the very first day of my college and now has a huge difference. I am still learning many things it’s just become possible because I have got a chance to study in the university and meet such wonderful human beings. One thing I can assure is that when we step out of the university me and my friends will be ready to face the outside world.
